Hi All,

I have Adobe Acrobat Reader version 2024.002.20687 and I'm not able anymore to use my digital certificate to sign documents.

I have a x509 certificate on a smarcard

Smarcard is registered in Adobe Reader

Reader see my certificate

Issuing CA (Root and Sub) are in the trusted entities

CRL can be reached.

When I try to sign, Application ask to Configure a Digital Identity.

I have the digital ID, but I cannot select it as the one to be used for signature. But if I look at the instruction in

https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/using/digital-ids.html, Under section “Specify the default digital ID”

Once I select Usage Options I only see

  • Manage Attributes Certificates
  • Personalize

I do not see

  • Use for Signing etc…

Certificate Intended usage:

Digital Signature, Encrypt Keys, Encrypt Document, Client Authentication,

Do you know where is the problem?

Hi Vincenzo36798231hrax,

Thank you for reaching out, and sorry about the delay in response.

If you are still experiencing the issue, please ensure you are using the latest version of the application.

As mentioned above, you do not get the option to select the Digital ID already saved. Could you please share the screen recording of your steps to sign the document?

Check if the Digital ID is visible under application preferences. In Acrobat Reader, go to Menu > Preferences > Signatures > Identities & Trusted Certificates.

Let us know if the issue has been resolved.

Thanks,

Meenakshi

Hi Vincenzo36798231hrax,

Thank you for sharing the screenshot.

Could you please share the screenshot of the options window that appears when you try to add a signature? it would be helpful if you could share the screen recording of the steps you did to add a signature, which did not work.

Try once removing the saved signature and closing the application. Reboot the machine and then launch the Acrobat. Add the signature again in Acrobat and try to add the signature.

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks,

Meenakshi
