Disable OS Trusted Zones (bTrustOSTrustedSites) Not Working Properly

Explorer ,
Mar 17, 2018 Mar 17, 2018

I believe there is a problem with Reader 2015.006.30417 not working properly with this security setting.  Have I missed something?

When the registry key bDisableOSTrustedSites is set to 1 under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\2015\FeatureLockDown, the GUI interface does NOT show a checkbox for "Automatically trust sites from my Win OS security zones".  Setting the value to 0 DOES cause the checkbox to be checked.  All looks good as far as the registry key and the checkbox in the GUI.

But the documentation states that the behavior is the opposite.

"Locking IE trusted sites

Windows OS trust can be locked so that users can’t change the setting via the UI as follows by setting  bDisableOSTrustedSites as follows:

  • 0: Disables trusting sites from IE and locks the feature.
  • 1: Enables trusting sites from IE and locks the feature."

Trust Methods — Acrobat Application Security Guide

It gets worse... not matter what its value, Reader will always open documents from Trusted Sites with Protected View turned off???
