Edit PDF in Adobe Reader

My Mac recently died and got a new Windows laptop. On my Mac I had the free Adobe Reader and could add textboxes to pdf, not just add comments. I can't on my Windows. Is there something I'm missing to be able to do that without paying for it? I understand that things run differently from Mac to Windows but something like that seems strange to be different. Thanks.

I believe you used to have Acrobat Pro, not the free Acrobat.

Using Reader you can add text as a part of a comment, but you can't edit the static contents of the field or add new form fields (unless you do it using a script).
