I sent a pdf thru adobe acrobat reader today   I included my own email address as a secondary recipient..I received the doc in my email,. Does this mean the main recipient also received it?

It's like throwing two identical, but separate, letters into a mailbox. The fact that one of them arrived to its destination doesn't mean the other one did, too. If you wrote the wrong address on it, for example, it will not arrive, while the other one does.
