Error: There is a problem with Adobe Acrobat/Reader.

When I click on a link, I'm receiving the following message "There is a problem with Adobe Acrobat/Reader. If it is running, please exit and try again 9.9".

I checked, it is not running.

It seems that you are trying to view PDF on the browser when you get this error message.

Please check this help document: Error "The Adobe Acrobat/Reader that is running cannot … view PDF …" Adobe Acrobat and Reader.

If you receive the same message, please try the troubleshooting steps provided in this document.

If the issue still persists, please share the screenshot of the error message you get.

Also, let us know the dot version of Adobe application and OS you are working on.

I updated from Adobe Reader DC 2017.009.20044 to version 2017.012.20093, now I am unable to open PDF files in IE, no issues on other browsers.  This happens on internal and external sites.  The error message we receive is "There is a problem with Adobe Acrobat/Reader.  If it is running, please exit and try again. (0:104)
