Error when installing Extended Asian Font Pack 19.021.20058 over Adobe Reader DC 2020.006.0042

Hi all,

I'm trying to troubleshoot why  the "latest" version of Extended Asian Font Pack (19.021.20058) does not detect the latest version of Adobe Reader DC deployed by my organization (2020.006.0042).

 

The error message that I receive is:

 

Property(N): LP_ERROR_NOREADER = This installer requires Adobe Acrobat Reader DC installed on your system. Please install Adobe Acrobat Reader DC before running this installer.

Hi, I got this exact problem on many of my clients...trying to install FontPack2200120085_XtdAlf_Lang_DC.msi on client with Adobe Reader DC 2022.002.20191...and I got the message that I need a newer Adobe Reader =(

Hi Marc - we have been trying to investigate the issue at our end and looks like the error is showing up when older version font pack is getting uinstalled as part of the new font pack installation workflow. To investigate it further, please share the following msi file from your machine: C:\WINDOWS\Installer\7dad2d9f.msi

Not sure if you could share the file here. So, please share it on any shared location (drive / sharepoint etc) and share the path with me.

Also - I have sent you a message. Please respond to it as well.

Thanks Marc for the screenshot. I would need the dump of the following registry:

Also Marc - please share the exact steps which you performed (did you have any older font pack installed before and then you updated Reader and then installed the latest font pack)? I have been trying to reproduce this issue at our end but could not see this error. Font pack: 19.021.20058 over Adobe Reader DC 2020.006.0042 installs without any error for me.

Hi again Mohd_Amish.

Here what I've been testing:

1)
- Other company machine with  Acrobat Reader DC version 2020.006.0042 and Asian Extended Font Pack 15.007.20033 installed: Original Adobe Reader DC build version is 18.011.20063 so Font Pack 15.007.20033 can be installed without issues.

- This machine receive the Acrobat Reader DC update and upgrades to version 2020.006.0042 without issues.

- I Uninstall FontPack version 15.007.20033 and install version 19.021.20058 without issues.

 

2) I come to the original problem machine.

- On this machine, with Acrobat Reader DC 2020.006.0042, Installation Package for Font Pack version 15.007.20033 fails, then I create Package for deploying FontPack Version 19.021.20058 that should get installed without issues. Installation fails again.

- Makes no sense when I've been able to install the Font Pack 19.021.20058 over DC version 2020.006.0042 in other machine with Success.

3) In my lab machine I have version 2020.006.0034 installed and Font Pack 19.021.20058 get installed with success.

 

That's why I come to support for further analysis about what's going wrong with the 1) machine while I'm searching to reproduce this error in other machines. But Log file shows not detecting well the current Acrobat Reader DC version.
I've attached the log file when creating the post, not sure if you can check it.

Thanks Marc. I could not get the msi log files. I have one question regarding the problematic machine:

Did you directly install Reader 20.006.20042 on the machine or Reader older version was installed and then it got updated to this version?

Also - if Reader older version was installed, did you have older Font pack - 1500720033 installed along with it or you are installing Font pack for the first time when this error shows up?

Hi Marc - can you please share the msi logs as well and any error screenshot which shows up to the user?
