I have the exactly same problem - I think this problem happens on windows 8 or higher.  I never have the problem with windows 7. but two other computers with windows 8 / 10 have this problem.   It sucks.

Nope, nothing gets me out of fullscreen mode.

Not pressing Control + L.

Not pressing ESC.

Not pressing F to cycle through modes.

Nothing.

That doesn’t sound like Acrobat Reader. People have chipped in with advice from any number of different apps now.

ESC should work too, in general. There's a preference (under the Full Screen category) that allows ESC key to exit full-screen. It's on by default so ESC should work. But in case it gets unchecked, Control-L or Command-L can still be used.

NONE of your suggestions work for me

i cannot even display the menu bar.  ESC does NOTHING, and i have systematically tried CTRL- {EVERY Key}.

fwiw, it is running on windows 8, i have tried Acrobat as a stand-alone application as well as the Google Chrome add-on.

both behave the same.

YOU May not realize how important this is; i am trying to determine a location displayed in a pdf document by simultaneously searching for it on a web based map.  Printing the page from the pdf document has Lousy resolution- But i CAN zoom in while it is on the screen.

--- >  is there at least a way to display the menu bar..?

i Assume that Acrobat has never been fixed to run any other way besides full-screen/maximized window
