Free pdf splitter not actually free?

Community Beginner ,
Jul 28, 2025 Jul 28, 2025

I'm trying to split pdfs into separate pages using the supposedly "free" adobe acrobat pdf splitter tool. I was able to do it with one file, which required me to log in. I used to have an Adobe subscription but no longer do because it was a waste of a LOT of money & I never really learned much with the different programs. Every help thing or search engine thing I find claims the splitter tool is free for use in a browser. But after I did the first one, every time I try to do the next one it tries to make me sign up for a subscription & doesn't let me get to the actual tool to split the document. Adobe is simply not worth the money for me as I am not really a designer & as far as I know they started doing a lot of unethical things that screw over their customers/creatives. Just trying to use the free version of Canva for the moment. What am I missing? Adobe's own help articles claim that the splitter is free to use. I'll look into finding another free splitter but this is driving me nuts. Why would it say free on literally everything when it's not??? Has our misinformation highway gotten so bad that companies can't even keep their own info they put out straight? That's direct from the source. That's a BIG problem. Had the same issue regarding something with ChatGPT last week where it's info on it's own products was WRONG lol. And come after me if ya want ab using AI, but when you use it responsibly & as the tool it's intended for instead of a "be all end all do it all for me," it can actually be useful. We're doomed if all companies are gonna be this freaking lax now. Sorry, Walmart pissed me off a lot this week too lol. All the big companies tbh.

Hi nvance333,

Thank you for reaching out.

We assume you are referring to the Adobe Acrobat Online free services. If yes, there is a limit to the number of times you can use the feature on Acrobat web services. You can make one free transaction every 30 days on a rolling basis. For more information, refer to the information in the following help document under the drop-down: "Using the tools > How many times can I use the free tools?": https://adobe.ly/3UGqY1f.

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.

As far as I know that is where I posted it. The community page. I struggle on any of the forum type pages bc the threads are so hard to follow. I try to post in the right spot & it often seems I get corrected and redirected. It's cool tho, someone else basically confirmed that it is not free & only one free use every 30 days... which is not the same thing as in all the help articles. It's blatant false advertisement to rope in subscriptions imo. Sorry if I posted in the wrong spot, but it's not super clear where to post. I feel like I hunted for anyplace to post a question for like 20 min before I found that page & then assumed that's where I was supposed to post it.
