French language in PDF not correctly shown in Reader DC

Hello,

We have a PDF document that's 95% in Dutch, which show correctly, but there's a little piece in French in between, which doesn't show correctly. After every accent and apostrophe in the French part, there a big space before the text continues (like 2 spaces):

Before this we got the popup that we needed to install an Extended Font Package for Reader DC, which we did. We've installed the file FontPack1500720033_XtdAlf_Lang_DC.msi downloaded from Adobe website, but after that we have the problem described here above.

I've also updated to the latest version for Adobe Reader DC (2018), but it's the same.

Any idea how we can get this to be shown correctly?

Kind regards,

Jody Wostyn

Correct answer Test Screen Name

Different PDF viewers handle text streams differently. Unless you share the file there's not much else I can say about this issue.

Can you share the file or one like it - on your own file sharing site, you can't share on the forum? If one app gets it right and the other wrong, the chances are one app is wrong - unless it leaves things unsaid in the PDF which can end up with PDF viewers each making their own decisions. The font pack isn't a factor in this, it's for far eastern fonts.

Did you create the file? Do you know how it was created?

Nope, I didn't create the file. It was generated by a software called Siebel.

The problem is most likely with how that application encoded the text.

Then how do you explain that it is correctly shown in another reader, like Microsoft Edge?
