Question

Good old Adober Reader X refuses working

Since today Jan. 15th 2020 Adobe Reader X has been stopped working.

It can be startet and can open even several documents, but after some seconds it says it had "encountered a problem and must close".
Interesting: If I disconnect the internet during startup of the program it does not happen. Even if I reconnect after 3 Minutes, it remains working.
So an adobe server must make it crash at checking something on startup.

(Win7 and even Win XP where it worked till yesterday, so it's NOT because of the end of Support of Win7).

How can I prevent it from connecting to the internet?

Thanx for hints

What version exactly? Most people find just applying the latest free update for Reader X fixes it.

It's Adobe Reader Version 10.1.4

Update for Version ten / X / 10.4.1?  I don't believe in this - most updates destroy earlier functionalities...

It has been working perfectly for 9 Years, now close to the end of Win7-Support it fails (only if computer is connected to the internet at startup of program).

Version 9.4 still WORKS!
I just like to stop it from connecting to the internet. I don't needs this.

You need to be very clear about the difference between upgrades and updates.

Updates are fixes, which don't usually change the app, but may fix importanrt problems.

10.1.4 (there was never a 10.4.1) has many updates, the final one being 10.1.16.

Of course, you don't have to believe me.

If Adobe fix a problem (or rather, fixed it years ago) and you refuse to install the fix, that's your choice.

Thanks for this precision. And sorry, I meant 10.1.4 in fact.
I'll try to find this updated/last version of X.

But do you really think this would fix my issue?
Why should Version 10.1.4 work 9 years and stop at the day of Win 7's end of support, and 10.1.16 would run longer?
Do you know a source where to find 10.1.16?

Thanks very much.
