How do I recover from Adobe Reader XI APPCRASH

I downloaded Adobe Reader XI. When I try to open a PDF file  it opens briefly and then Windws error message appear " Adobe Reader has stopped working........"  I can no longer open any PDF files. Tried repairing through Windows, Adobe, reloaded Adobe Reader XI, nothing works

    Thank you for the tip. I have re-installed Adobe Reader 10 and everything works again. I will try your fix when I some free time. Computers do save time they are the ultimate time sink when things don’t work.
