How to disable window from closing itself automatically?

Hi, the window will close itself automatically everytime I open a file!  Is this a default feature of adobe reader?  how to disable it?  I can never have enough time to read the document or print it.  Please help.  Many thanks.

Start Reader directly, not by double clicking on a PDF. Immediately after starting Reader go to Help > About Acrobat Reader or About Adobe Reader. We’re looking for a long number like 11.0.76 or 2016.123.3456.  Tip: write down what you see, it may take several attempts to get it all.

That is an old/outdated version (pre DC). You should get the latest version here: https://get.adobe.com/reader/otherversions/
