How To Not Open In Full Screen Mode

I am using MAC OS X El Capitan 10.11.6 and just upgraded to Adobe Reader DC 2017 Release | Version 2017.012.20093. How do I get the app to not open in full screen mode, but in the mode I last left it?

Same here on a Windows 10 system. Windows opening in full screen mode is most annoying on a 30-inch display. The Windows should open at the same size and the same location it was last closed. How can I restore this?
