Hi all. I was given a secured pdf. All it will allow is printing. I then asked the author for the password (pw) so I can make some text comments put sticky notes on it draw some lines and was sent that pw. Where do I put it? There is no box no pop up nothing that asks for a password. Please do not tell me how to secure one just where to put the password so I can unlock the pdf in DC reader.

Hello Ss,

A password-protected PDF either requires a password to open or a password to change or remove restricted operations. If a document has restricted features, tools and options related to those features are dimmed.

If you have the password which was used to apply the restrictions, and if you are able to open the PDF file, then from the File menu>Choose Properties>Then select 'Security' tab to change the security settings to None. It will ask to Enter the password, Enter it to remove the se

It will ask to Enter the password, Enter it to remove the security settings, now Save the file and then Click Ok.

If the password shared by the author is correct and same, you will be able to remove the security settings.

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks,

Anand Sri.

To unlock the file you must use Adobe Acrobat. It is not possible with Acrobat Reader.

With Acrobat Standard or Professional, open the "Preferences" under the Edit menu option. You then select the "Security" tab where you can select to remove the protection and a pop-up will appear for you enter the document's password.

Hello Ss,

I am sorry that I missed the point and as correctly mentioned by Bernd and George, to remove the Security from the PDF, you need Acrobat Pro or Standard.

As Adobe Reader is a freeware app and it is used to view, print, sign and annotate a PDF.

Thank you BerndAlheit and George for correcting me.

Anand Sri.

Then you have the wrong password, or you're entering it wrong.
