Question

Installation problems

Hi

I have been trying to install the latest versions of Adobe Reader & Flash player.

I can download the software & unzip it ok (using 7-zip)

As soon as I double click to install it it says:" Adobe Download Manager has encountered a problem and needs to close.  We are sorry for the inconvenience."

No error message, so I have no idea what to do. Using Windows XP  to SP3 & Firefox browser. Tried turning off firewall & disabling anti-virus, but no difference

Any ideas most welcome.

Many thanks in advance.

    Hi

I have the exact same problem with trying to update Adobe Flash Player since yesterday. Windows XP SP 3. Adobe Flash Player update Version 18.0.0.194

I've tried everything suggested in these answers to this post. It made no difference at all. So now my Flash Player has been disabled by Firefox as "out of date plugin" and I have a warning message on nearly every webpage

    - Firefox has prevented the outdated plugin “adobe flash” from running on www.xxxxx.com. Then two buttons marked “continue blocking” and “allow”

Where www.xxxxx.com is the web page address I'm on.

I have to manually override this every time, and it is not remembered the next day so I will have to do this forever if I can't get a solution.

    Help please!

I have the exact same problem! "Adobe Download Manager has encountered a problem and needs to close".   I did a clean install of windows XP with SP3, now I can't install the adobe flash player.

Provide a link to the offline installer maybe?  They are never easy to find.

Links like those in reply#8, you mean?

adobe reader and flash player normally install without a direct download.  just untick unwanted tag-along-ware.

    Hi

Thanks for the suggestion, but I get exactly the same error message if I follow this route.
