Installing Acrobat Reader DC Multilingual

New Here ,
Dec 10, 2019 Dec 10, 2019

Hi all,

For days (!) I have been trying to install Acrobat Reader DC in the Dutch language.

But I am so confused in the process of using/applying MUI-patches on the AcroRead.msi.

I am able to unzip the AcroRdrDC1902120047_en_US.exe and then use the Customization Wizard to generate an AcroRead.mst-file from the AcroRead.msi

Using the Customization Wizard I am unable to select which language to install (which is Dutch).

When I use msiexec /i AcroRead.msi TRANSFORMS="AcroRead.mst" PATCH="AcroRdrDCUpd1902120047_MUI.msp"

I get an errormessage that the patch-file is not compatible.

If I only use setup.exe with the edited setup.ini containing:

CmdLine=TRANSFORMS="AcroRead.mst"
PATCH=AcroRdrDCUpd1902120047_MUI.msp

I get the same errormessage.

Does that mean that this version of Acrobat Reader DC is not multilingual?

Thanks for your help.

Cheers,

Chin.

MUI patches are patches for the MUI product, not a way to turn a single language product into MUI. You must start with a base MUI product.

Thx for your clarification!

I have found a Dutch base-version of Acrobat Reader DC, but I am still unable to patch that base-version (2015.007.20033) with the newest available MUI-version (2019.021.20058):

Does this mean that the only MUI-patch I can install is the 2015.007.20033?

This is the newest Dutch 'base-version' of DC I can find, unable to find a Dutch 'base-version' of 2019.021.20058 at ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/AcrobatDC/

The Dutch version is also not MUI. MUI is something different and specific. I think you may be missing a key point: the patch version NEVER matches the base version, because the patch is an update, not a feature change. Patches are always newer. You can use the oldest MUI base package and add the latest MUI patch (only), and you will be up to date.

Hi, you're right. I really was mixed up with the regular and MUI versions.

I finally understand to update a base-MUI with an updated-MUI. I think I got it working now.

I do have another issue, but will start a new post for that. 🙂

Thx!
