Installing Acrobat Reader - getting error newer version already installed

Hello, I am trying to install Reader on a Windows 7 x64 laptop but installation fails with error that newer version is already installed.

 

I have already tried the suggestions provided in other posts such as rebooting, running the cleaner tool and installing the windows update for Error 1722. However the problem still persists and I am unable to install Reader.

 

Does the support community have any other suggestions/fixes for this problem? Thanks.

    Hi Sanketdandekar,

     

    Apologies for the delay in response and the trouble caused. As described above, you are getting the error 1772 While installing the Adobe Acrobat Reader DC, correct?

     

    This error is due to a missing update for Universal C runtime in Windows. Please follow the troubleshooting steps provided n the help article - https://helpx.adobe.com/in/acrobat/kb/error-1722--there-is-a-problem-with-this-windows-installer-packa.html

    Hi Amal, I mentioned in my post that I have already tried the fix for error 1772. However, I still get the error that newer version is installed. Please suggest what I should do next? Thanks.
