Insufficient data for an Image - Adobe Reader DC Ver 2015.020.20042

Good day all,

Getting an error when viewing PDF documents of "insufficient data for an image". The error occurs on random PDF's and with multiple different users. I can open the PDF but get the error on a specific page, which is then left black. Rest of the document is viewing fine. Aka can view page 1-3 no error, Page 4 - I will get the error message and is blank but can view page 5-20 again no issue.  

Checked and verified that all Adobe Acrobat updates are loaded.

Tested the same document with Microsoft Edge, PDF Viewer and Microsoft Word without any errors.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

    Hi Johan_kok101,

    Could you please confirm are you facing this problem with the particular  document or is it with  other PDf files as well?

    Hi Akanchha,

    We are having the issue with multiple PDF files.

    We receive (via email) and scan about 400 / 600 PDF files per day. When we receive these files we check them via Adobe Reader to verify the content and then upload them to our system. What we are now finding is that when we are recalling some of these documents we are getting this error. This also includes some of the new files we are receiving daily when checking them via Adobe Reader.

    Out of the total we view per day, we might get 2/5 PDF's with this issue and this include emailed documents and scanned documents. Prior to this we scanned over a 1500 documents per day with no error ever reported. This issue only started in the last month / 2 months.

    I have examples of PDF files that are giving this issue (they were created via PDFsharp and when they were originally scanned we did not have any errors when viewing via Adobe Reader). Also when using PDF-XChange Editor/Viewer or MS Edge we can view the same documents without any errors.

    The PDF Producer is : PDFsharp 1.32.3057-g

    PDF Version: 1.4 (Acrobat 5.x)

    Tagged PDF: NO

    Fast Web View: No

    I have checked and reviewed the different forum links but nothing has assisted me in fixing the issue or explaining why we are only getting this error with Adobe Reader.
