Is a 64-bit version of Adobe Reader to download on Server 2012 R2?

The current version of the adobe reader taking high CPU when opening pdf.

So, we are wondering if there is a 64 bit version of Adobe Reader.

32-bit only. No idea why you feel this affects amount of CPU, the only advantage a 64-bit app would have is that it could use more than 2GB of memory. As a Server administrator, this seems a bad feature, not a one to wish for.

Every time I try and find the answer, I get this thread instead of the other one. So posting my answer here!

The trick is to change the version strings to match the current release!

Thanks to Doug to pointing this out 🙂

To expand on the response from Test_Screen_Name , there are indeed other reasons why a 64-bit version of Reader and Acrobat would be desirable. For example, there are currently issues with regards to various PDF file manipulation operations in Acrobat involving very large and complex PDF files in which Acrobat runs out of memory space in the its Windows version (32-bit) that don't occur in the MacOS version (64-bit). But this is certainly not a CPU utilization issue. Ultimately, you will see a 64-bit version of Reader and Acrobat, but no timeframe announced (yet).
