It's suddenly very difficult to leave notes in Acrobat

When I try to highlight a word or phrase to leave a comment, the highlight shows up for a split second, then disappears and there's no comment box to leave a note. It was working fine yesterday. I did install a Windows update today, no idea if that had anything to do with it. But any help much appreciated.
