Launching Adobe Reader requires Microsoft Login

Suddenly when I try to use Acrobat reader (on my desktop Mac), a pop-up window requires me to sign into a Microsoft account.  I never had, used a MS account on my Mac, but I do have a Microsoft account on a different Win10 PC.  When I try to sign in with my current Microsoft account, I get an error message and I can't go any further.  However, I can't close out the error message.  I have to Force Quit Acrobat.  So now I can't open PDFs.  If I attempt to re-launch the application by double-clickin on a PDF file, the app launches but then goes unresponsive.  How can I fix this.

That's very strange. Can you post a screenshot of what you're seeing?

Thanks for replying....I use a MAC on macos 12.4 (Monterey)...Due to the problems I have, I cannot confirm the AA version, but I reinstalled it yesterday (in the hopes of fixing this issue)....I encounter 2 problem scenarios:

1) When I launch the Acrobat Reader DC application, within 5 seconds my cursor goes into a 'spin mode' indefinitely (ie thinking it still want to launch..) and the app is 'unresponsive'.  I cannot Force Quit via the 'appple icon' on the top left of my screen, so I have to resort to using option-command-esc keys to Force Quit the app.

2) If I attempt to launch the app by double-clicking on any PDF file, the app will launch, but within 5 seconds a pop-up screen appears requesting a login to a Microsoift account!  I have 2 MS accoutns - one work-related and the other associated to a Win10 compuer.....Entering in my MS credentials does nothing, nor can I simply "X" out of the screen by selecting the RED-X  on the top-left of the pop-up screen; it does not work....In this scenario, I AM able to Force Quit by selecting the 'apple icon' previously mentioned and, suprising, the app does not indicate it as being 'unresponsive'.

I have never seen these issues before...Never logged into a MS account on my MAC before.....
