Loading on desktop

Everytime I open a doc, it loads onto my desktop and I do not want that.  How do I stop this?

What is the dot version of Adobe Reader installed? To identify, refer to Identify the product and its version for Acrobat and Reader DC

Did you open the file with File > Open... ?
