Loging pop-ups for non-pro users

As not very clear from the changelogs it seems that Acrobat DC and Reader DC are now the same product. It seems that there hasn't been any thought of RDS or shared workstation environments from Adobe.

So, from potentially 200 users of which around 10 users have Acrobat DC licenses the other 190 users without a paid license now get login pop-ups and can't open PDF's anymore...

How can I fix this?

I tried the workaround but it did not work: "Old/New Acrobat version already installed."

Clarified the workaround - you can install both 32 bit Acrobat Reader and 32 bit Acrobat Pro. That worked. You can not install 64 bit anything if any other version of Acrobat is installed.

Hello Frans,

I hope you are doing well. I am sorry for your experience with Acrobat Reader.

Can you please let me know if all the users except those with Acrobat licenses have been deployed with Acrobat Reader DC? If they are, they should not be getting the pop-up for logging in.

You may refer to the given link to know more about Reader deployment: Getting Started — Deployment Planning and Configuration (adobe.com)

Also, if you need to disable any specific feature of the application, you can refer to the given link:

Lockable Settings (adobe.com)

Let me know if this helps.

Thanks,

Souvik.

Not to speak for Frans but you are missing the point.

Following Adobe's directions you deploy Acrobat to computers, not to users.

Say you have 100 computers and 150 users share them on a first come first served basis. Say users with Acrobat Pro login and "upgrade" the installation. When a user without a pro license logs in to that computer they get the option to login with an Adobe ID and start their trial.
I do not manage shared computers, but I have noticed this problem when managing or updating other peoples computers who have Acrobat Pro. My login can not open .pdf's with Acrobat, since I am not logged in.

@Frans25323446xsdo Hi,

So basically, what happens in such a case is, that if the first user logs in with a Pro license, the installation is upgraded, and even after logging out, it remains the same.

So, the following user, who logs in to the system will be prompted every time to sign up to avail of the subscription features.

If you think this is something that needs to be changed, I suggest you kindly fill in the feedback form so that the feedback reaches directly to our engineering team for them to look into it and try to implement it in the upcoming updates.

Thanks,

Souvik.
