Mac OS download for adobe reader freezes at "running package scripts" every time.

Hello. I am trying to download adobe reader (free version) for Mac OS (10.14). I have tried most of the trouble shooting steps and all of the downloads freeze at the same spot. The download gets about 2/3 through the "running package scripts" page, then freezes. This will stay that way until I eventually force quit the entire install. I tried contacting adobe support who sent me to this forum for help. I have tried downloading from a different browser, a different admin account, and have completely reinstalled Mac OS (for different reasons) but still have issues with the download freezing. If you have any ideas please let me know as I am desperate to get some class work done.

Thank you in advance.

Hi Meganv,

I am sorry for the trouble you are having with the installation of Adobe Reader. Please reboot the machine once and check for any pending OS updates for Mac and install them.

Reboot the machine after updating the Operating system.

This can occasionally occur if your the disk permission is incorrect. I would recommend taking a look at the article below and repairing the disk permission on your drive. Repair disk permissions with Disk Utility - Apple Support

Then download and install the Acrobat cleaner tool to remove any corrupt or damaged installation file of Adobe Reader Download Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool - Adobe Labs

Reboot the machine and install Adobe Reader from Adobe - Adobe Acrobat Reader DC Distribution

If you experience any issue, please create a test user profile with full admin rights or enable the root account and install Adobe Reader and check. How to enable the root user on your Mac or change your root password - Apple Support

Let us know if you experience any issue.

Thanks,

Anand Sri.

Hi there, I have tried all of your suggestions and I am now being sent to the following page.

The download "finishes" then redirects me to this page. I have tried all of the troubleshooting steps listed in both of the links on that web page.
