Mac: The document could not be printed. There were no pages selected to print.

Every other App is able to print.  I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling both the application and print driver.  Out of desperation, I updated the OS, and I still cannot print.

Right now, I'm still receiving the error.  My environment:

MacOS: 10.13.1

Adobe Acrobat Reader DC Continuous Release

Version 2018.011.20036

Architecture: x86_64

Build: 18.11.20038.267465

AGM: 4.30.74

CoolType: 5.14.5

JP2K: 1.2.2.39492

Any thoughts?  Are there logs I can look at or tracing I can enable to identify the point of failure?

Best,

-Pat

Let me see if I've got this right:

Through hard work and marketing nous, Adobe have made themselves the default standard for online documents. You can create documents that can be read on any computing platform, either in a web browser on using a stand-alone application. you can include forms, images and graphocs appeas in full glorious colour. Adobe Acrobat has even become the industry standard for traditional printing. All computer-generated artwork can be supplied as print-resolution Acrobat files, ready for output via digital or more traditional printing methods.

Except that, due to a particular bug (that Adobe would evidently describe as a 'feature' as they can't be arsed fixing it) you can't actually PRINT from Acrobat...

Shows what can be achieved when you own the Industry-Standard Monopoly!

Same here. I have version 2019.012.20034 on Mac OS Sequoia and Mac OS Sonora and it won't print a document that was created with that app because of pages not selected. The same document prints fine in Apple Preview.

Hi Jens Peermann,

Thank you for reaching out.

Please try updating the application to the latest version. If that does not help, try printing using the print as an image option. You may use the steps suggested in the following help document: https://adobe.ly/4dRSz6T. Check if that helps.

When printing the PDF, does the error occur with all the files or with a particular file? Please share a sample PDF to replicate the behavior.

Thanks,

Meenakshi

This worked for me.  In the Print Window, Click on Advanced which appears in front of the Printer Selection Option.

In the Advanced Print Setup Select the Print As Image Check Box.  Choose whatever resolution you prefer. Click OK, Print. It should work.

Why are we still having this issue in 2023?  I have a copy of acrobat pro and pay a monthly service for adobe... I cannot print from my computer with Acrobat Pro 2017 and should not be having these issues.  Your responses with the *patch* does not work and goes to a bad page.

I am still having this same problem in Jamuary 2023. Very frustrating because I pay Adobe on a monthly service fee. Every other app prints fine on my computer.

Really Adobe ? Is this the best you can do ? I can print fine from  Preview and anything else but NOT from Acrobat. The first message abut this was SIX YEARS AGO !  This needs to be fixed !

Despite what you think oin the above message, this problem has NOT been fixed. I am running the current versions of everything adobe, and am still having this issue !

Just started to have this same problem, after running perfectly for 12 months!

Mac Studio 128Gb RAM OS 12.6.6

Latest versions of everything - Acrobat Pro DC, Printer drivers, OS…

No recent software updates - but all of a sudden nothing will print from Acrobat DC Pro.

Re-installed Acrobat DC Pro. Updated printer driver. Installed latest OS update (only a security patch).

Checked that my HDD was not formatted as case-sensitive, but installed the sym-link anyway.

Disabled security settings and enhanced security settings within Acrobat DC preferences.

Tried printing as an image.

Still ALWAYS get the error message "The document could not be printed. There were no pages selected to print."

Only solution - print PDFs from Preview (or from the native application, if I created them) !

Can someone from Adobe help me.

I have upgraded my OS on my macbook air to Sonoma 14.0 and I am getting these messges when I try to print :

'The document could not be printed. There were no pages selected to print.' I have just renewed my yearly subscription and will have to cancel if I can't print.

Please get back to me as I can't find a number to call.

Thanks you.

I had the same problem.

Found a way around.

Open the document with Preview and print.

Works !!

Gotta love how Adobe fails (repeatedly and pretty widely) on a simple task of printing a document and it's still considered fine! lol

The solution that worked for me, after upgrading my Mac to Catalina OS, and encountering many printing problems, was to install new HP Print Drivers. Solved printing problems with Excel and all other applications.

This did not solve the problem with me. It was an issue with the Reader not being able to cope with case sensitive file systems. Let your devs know about it to fix the issue!

Yeah. Same here. Not working with the latest version of Adobe Reader (20.12.20043.396433)

on macOS 10.15.6. And yes, I am on a case-senstive file system.

Such shoddily written software. Embarrassing. Not even remotely the first time that Adobe has proven unable to write software for case sensitive file system.

Im getting this very problem, Adobe reader is the only application which cannot print, updated to the latest version and still does not appear to be resolved. Its rather annoying, surely there must be a fix for this?
