I can't seem to ever get the Mac to update reader. It just hangs after the download for minutes. I've disabled my AntiVirus software and that doesn't help.
Any suggestions?

Hope you are doing well and sorry for the trouble. As described, you are unable to update the Acrobat Reader On Mac as it just hangs after the download for minutes.
Please try to reboot the computer once and see if that helps.
If it still doesn't work, please create a new test user profile with full admin rights or enable the root account in Mac and try using the application there and check.
Also, please try to manually install the patch using the link - https://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/ReleaseNotesDC/index.html and see if that helps.
