Multiple tabs option gone

Community Beginner ,
May 20, 2023 May 20, 2023

Hi There,

The option to open documents in different windows (as opposed to tabs) in Preferences>General has disappeared for me in the last month. It's driving me insane! I am now opening documents in Apple Preview as well as Reader to get this function back.

- I have searched Preferences functions

- I have tried uninstalling and installing, and lot of web searches, but no luck.

Does anyone have a solution?

Using MacOS Monterey 12.6.3, and Adobe Acrobat Reader 23.001.20177

Thank You

PJ

Yes, it's the current update that caused the problems!

What, you can't look through the View menu for an option to turn off the new Acrobat?

I managed to get rid of the tabs on my Windows machine:

1: In preferences - General: Click 'Disable the new acrobat'

2: Restart the acrobat

3: Now you can find the button to disable tabs under Preferences - General

4: Enjoy tab-less viewing

Not very intuitive user interface. But now it works for me.

Hi @Catherine28777624i5vv

We appreciate your valuable feedback! We're always looking for ways to improve Acrobat, and we appreciate the time and effort you have taken to share your feedback.

We acknowledge that the new Acrobat represents a notable change; however, we hope that as you get familiar with the new interface, you will be able to be more productive & get more out of Acrobat.

We are actively working on all the currently unavailable features, such as 'open documents in the same window as new tabs or different windows' and customizing these preferences. We will address them with the highest priority.

As you get more comfortable with the new interface, please contact us with specific questions on tools, features, or functionalities. We're happy to provide helpful resources and answers to your questions.

If your critical workflows are impacted, you can switch to the old UI from the "Menu" on the top left corner of  Windows OS and View Menu on MacOS. We will follow up with a detailed community-featured post, guiding you to familiarise yourself with the new interface and regular updates on upcoming changes.

Thanks,

Anand Sri.
