My Acrobat Reader Stops Responding Mac OsX

Hi

I was working with the latest version with the reader and it was fine. Suddenly, while a couple of files were open, it stopped responding (the colourful circle appeared). It happened every time I've opened it - you open, looks good, and the first click anywhere on the screen (or even scrolling) and it hangs (colourful circle). It happens either when opening specific PDF files or the app itself.

I've tried:

- Restart computer

- Deleting the Reader and reinstalling

- Deleting the Reader, deleting the files in the Library folders, and reinstalling

- Using the cleaner app and reinstalling

I'm quite frustrated, I'm using the Reader daily and at a loss without it.

Would very much appreciate the help,
Omri

    Hi Omri,

We're sorry for the trouble you had with Adobe Reader, please reboot the machine once and reset the Adobe Reader preferences once and reboot the computer again. To reset the preferences, refer to the steps mentioned in the article How to reset Acrobat Preference settings to default. and see if this brings any difference.

As you already mentioned that you have tried reinstallation, deleting files from library folders, use cleaner tool to remove Adobe Reader, but Adobe Reader is still freezing.

Please navigate to Adobe Reader's Preferences from Adobe Reader menu on top>Preferences>Security(Enhanced)>Turn off "Enable Protected Mode at startup" and "Enable Enhanced Security">Click OK. close Adobe Reader and launch it back and check.

Note: Disabling the protected mode and enhanced security is only for testing purpose, please enable it back.

Create a test user profile with full admin rights or enable the root account How to enable the root user on your Mac or change your root password - Apple Support

Install the latest version of Adobe Reader from Adobe - Adobe Acrobat Reader DC Distribution and check.

What is the current version of the Mac OS installed?

What is the version of Adobe Reader installed? To identify, refer to Identify the product and its version for Acrobat and Reader DC

Let us know how it goes and share your observation.

    Thanks,
