Ok, if you don't mind me asking, can you share a little more info about what you have? For example, Windows 7 (which edition? 32 or 64 bit version.. is it updated?)

What free Adobe product (and version) do you have: Adobe Acrobat ReaderDC? or Adobe Acrobat Pro DC 7-day Free Trial?

As far as the web browsers like Crhome, MS Edge, Firefox, Opera (or any other PDF viewer), they are all matured enough to be able to open, display, fill  the form, and such.  However, using browsers to try and wrestle with PDF forms that might've been created with other Adobe products (specially with Adobe LiveCycle forms, Adobe Acrobat ProDC), or even exported to PDF with the of  MS Office applications, or other commercial PDF products) ALL and  EACH have some constraints and  limitations.

If the form was created in Adobe Acrobat Pro, and let's say, it has java scripts, secuirty measures in place, or document-level javascripts (to include digital signature fields, etc.) you won't be able to use it properly.

Browsers rely on PDF plug-ins which is not the same as using the full fledged features in Acrobat Pro. With the paid subscription you will be able to fully edit and save the document in different formats, for example.

But if you share a little more info on what you have, then we may find some work around to your issue.

Operating System is Microsoft Windows 7 Professional 6.1.7601, and I am using Adobe Acrobat Reader DC version 2019.012.20040. The forms are legal forms that I have downloaded from the government agencies website and were not created by me, I am just filling it in. It was working properly until about a week ago and then it started hiding what I had written. It works on other computers just not on mine. Below is the ling to one of these documents https://www.justice.govt.nz/assets/Documents/Forms/2-Request-for-Confidentiality-2706.pdf

Hi,

I checked the file and it seems to work well in both Adobe Acrobat Read and Adobe Acrobat Pro.

The only curious thisng I found is that the file is not secured; it is editable.

If the form that you are using is older than June 2019 please download from their website the most current one. It seems that the form was updated using InDesign with a Mac computer during that time fram as shown in the slide below

FVA-form.png

If that is not your case and you've downloaded this file recently  from the link that you provided, please see this link first : https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/blank-dialogs-or-text-missing.html

You've also mentioned that the files works good in other computers excepts yours. Correct?

Check for the following settings in your Adobe Reader and compare if some of this settings are different in the other computer that the file seems to work well:

1) Edit---> Preferences---> PDF/A View Mode---> View Documents in PDF/A mode: Select Never and see if this works.

2) Edit---> Preferences---> Page Display---> Deafult Layout and Zoom---> Rendering--->Smooth Text---> (check uncheck options here, specially "Use Local Fonts" (it should be checked, but see if by unchecking it you get something to work

3) Edit---> Preferences--->Other Accessibility Options---> Document Colors Options--->Replace Document Colors " (should be unchecked

4 ) Edit---> Preferences---> Other Accessibility Options--->Document Colors Options--->Override Page Display (settings here should be unchecked)

5) ) Edit---> Preferences---> Other Accessibility Options (check here how it looks in the other good know-working

computers and compare with your computer settings)

6) Edit---> Preferences---> Security Enhanced (check here how it looks in the other good know-working computers and compare with your computer settings)

7) If none of this works, try saving the file As MS Word Document, convert to PDF again and see if you can fill the form again (this worked for someone in another forum outside of Adobe Forums

8)Check this link our: https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/blank-dialogs-or-text-missing.html and follow the Microsoft Support links listed below in that page where it says "More like this"

9) Additional Troublshooting tips: https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/troubleshooting-forms.html

9) Last but nevertheless, use the Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool from here: https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/cc-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html  or here:   https://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html
