My small group (not a business group) produces a membership directory.  When I receive the directory, I scan the pages into a pdf document which can be opened on an iPhone, iPad, etc.  Everyone in the group loves being able to open the document on their devices and view the contents.  My question is what is the best way to handle changes to the directory such as telephone number, email address, etc.  Is there a particular format that is recommended for scanning into pdf document such as Microsoft word, or something else?  What is the best way to process the changes before distributing the pdf document to the group?  Your assistance is greatly appreciated.

Let's take a step back. I imagine this membership directory is made on a computer. What you need to do is get hold of that ORIGINAL FILE and convert it to a PDF. For any changes to a directory you change the ORIGINAL FILE and make the PDF again; it should take just seconds. On no account think of the PDF as something you keep editing; it's a common mistake which can lead to a lot of pain.
