Open a scanned pdf

I tried to scan a plain document using a hp laserjet pro printer M1217nfw MFP and got the following message when I tried to open the scanned

Document on my Mac computer OS Majave Ver 10.14.
Adobe Acrobat Reader could not open 'Kroger Peanuts.pdf' because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded).

This doc was not a email attachment

Please let me know if you have a solution to my problem

      Is it all documents or only this one?

      Also, update to Mojave 10.14.1. It fixed a lot of bugs that 10.14 created.

      Report this issue to the authors of the scanning software you're using. It's possible it's not producing a valid PDF file.

      If you could share a sample file with us (via Dropbox, Google Drive, etc.) we can let you know for sure if that's the case or not.
      At any rate there's nothing you can do about it with the free Reader.
