Can you let us know a bit more about what is going on?

Where is the pdf you are trying to open (online? On your computer?) How are you trying to open it (double click, clicking a link?) What exactly happens when you try and open it? Finally, you say Adobe Acrobat. Do you have Acrobat or do you have the free Acrobat Reader installed? And what version?

The file is in word and I am right clicking on it. It trys to open it in word. I have adobe reader DC. Don't know the version but I clicked on the compatibility mode and it doesn't show windows 10 so that may be the issue.

Reader DC does not need to run in compatibility mode in Windows 10. It should run just fine.

Can you clarify what you mean by "The document is in Word"? Is it a Word document (.doc or .docx) or is it a .pdf file?

If a .pdf file, have you tried opening Reader then using File>Open to open the .pdf file? Windows 10 DOES have it's own .pdf viewer (MS Edge) so that may be causing issues but you should be able to get past that by opeining directly in Reader.

I am having issues opening pdf files on my computer.  When I open a pdf,

I get a message Adobe Acrobat Reader DC has stopped working

"A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.  Windows still close the program and notify you if a solution is available."

I know my computer did some windows update this morning and I am not sure if this is part of the problem.

rodr19257201 Please start your own thread. Your problem is nothing like the one in this thread so it would be nice to not have a mixture of a bunch of different issues in here. Thanks.

Hi bruceb88302076 ,

In you Windows 10 OS , You can always open PDF's in Adobe Acrobat Reader.

1) Launch Reader -> File -> Open -> Select the pdf you want to open -> OK

2) Drag and drop the PDF you want to open over the Acrobat reader Window .

3) Right click on PDF -> Open With -> More apps -> Adobe Acrobat Reader DC.

Any of the Above should work for you if the default pdf viewer for your machine isnt set as Reader.

Let us know for further concerns in this

Thanks

Ayush
