I'm unable to paste from the clipboard into the Search field (Find text field). Instead I have to type out the term I'm searching.

What's the exact version number of the application (You can find it out by going to Help - About Adobe Acrobat)? What's your OS version? From where are you copying the text you want to search for?

Hi @ian36593205upzh

@ian36593205upzh

Thanks for reaching out.

I have tried to reproduce the issue at my end on Win 11 and Acrobat pro 24.02.20687 and its working fine.

Also try to repair the installation from the help menu (Win Only) and see if that works.

Please try to reset the Acrobat preferences as described here https://adobe.ly/4awNUXc

You may also try to create a new test user profile with full admin rights in Win or enable the root account in MAC https://adobe.ly/3JmHpuc  and try using the application there and check.

Let us know how it goes.

~Amal

Thanks Amal.

I did a repair, install and and reset. None worked.

I’m not prepared to enable a root account, as I don’t want to mess with my computer too much.

There’s something in acrobat blocking the paste, as I don’t have any issues with other apps either in windows (virtual) or Mac.

Regards

Ian

Hi there,

Would you mind sharing and a small video recording of the issue and collecting the Adobe CC logs https://adobe.ly/4cWcqTh ,and share them via any cloud storage. Just upload the log file to the cloud and generate the link and share that link with us for further investigation.

Regards
Amal

I have same problem, it just will not allow me to paste into the search box. This is a 4 week old ms laptop 7 fully up to date with Acrobat version (64-bit) 24.005.20320.

Is there a setting which controls this?

Hello @aniruddha_7154!

I hope you are doing well, and we apologize for the delayed response and the trouble. Is it happening with all the PDFs, or is it specific to one?

Please ensure you have the latest version of Acrobat installed on the machine: 25.001.20521 Planned update, Jun 02, 2025. Check for any pending updates from the Menu > help > check for updates, install the updates, restart the app, and the machine, and try again.

  • Right-click and Paste

    • Click into the Find box so it’s active, then right-click and choose Paste.

    • That context-menu paste always works, even when Ctrl + V doesn’t.

  • Use the Advanced Search Panel

    • Press Shift + Ctrl + F (Windows) or Shift + ⌘ + F (Mac) to open the Full Acrobat Search.

    • In that panel’s search field, Ctrl + V will paste normally.

  • Edit → Paste

    • With the Find box focused, open the Edit menu and choose Paste.

    • It’s a bit more clicks, but it works every time.

If the issue still persists, please provide the following information: the current version of the operating system on your device and the logs from the affected machine. To collect the logs, download and run the Log Collector tool. Make sure to select all log options and attempt to reproduce the issue. After that, close the Log Collector tool; it will generate the logs along with a log ID. Please share this log ID with us for further investigation.

Thanks,

Anand Sri.

This is a highly inconvenient and frustrating bug that also occurs in version 24.001.30254 (64-bit) on Windows 11 (64-bit, ARM 26100.4770). Please fix this — Adobe licenses aren’t exactly cheap!

Hi @Marco36899958nszy,

Hope you are doing well. Sorry for the experience with using Acrobat Reader.

I tried the workflow on my end, and it worked fine.

Could you update the app to the latest version (2025.001.20577) and let us know if it works for you?

To do so, go to Menu > Help > Check for Updates.

If it doesn't, please share a screen recording of the entire event, while also capturing the document properties window by going to Menu > File > Document Properties.

Let us know how it goes.

Regards,
Souvik.
