I've used acrobat reader for years to pay utility bills online.
Today I tried to pay my monthly bill and got the following msg -
"An error occurred during the submit process. The server has an invalid SSL certificate."
This has never happened before.
I'm not a very tech-savvy person. What does this mean, and how do I fix it?
(I'm on mac, with the 11.0.23 version of reader)

you mean the internet provider, or adobe? i tried calling adobe - they told me to post here, and that no phone assistance was provided for this product.
Which ever Utility has the server exhibiting the behavior should be contacted. A lot of web browsers and other internet aware applications will now throw errors if the SSL certificate is expired/invalid. Their IT/Web Group should be able to update the certificate and then their users won't get that message when they are attempting to pay their bills or browse their secure web site.
