PDF print jobs not being sent to printer

New Here ,
Dec 20, 2016 Dec 20, 2016

Hello everyone,

We are running Adobe Acrobat Reader DC (15.020.20042.8920) on a terminal server environment.

Users send their prints to printers that are shared from a Print Server. However, many times in Adobe Acrobat Reader DC when the users click print there will not be a popup that shows the document is being sent to the printer. The printer will not receive the job and ofcourse will not print anything.

It is still possible to print through other printers.

Restarting the print spooler or Adobe Reader does not help. Only relogging the user helps. Note I've experienced this issue with 4 printers now (HP and RICOH) and have already tried replacing the drivers.

Does anyone know what the issue is? Help would be much appreciated!

Hi kevink68015986,

Could you please try running Reader as an administrator and see if that resolve the issue:

Have you tried printing from other applications?

Hi Adorobat,

Thanks for your reply!

I will try, but it's very hard for me to do this for the following reason:

1. The issue is not constant. One moment a user can print fine from Reader, and the next moment it will stop working until the next relog. Although printing from OTHER printers will still work.

2. The users access Reader from a Terminal Server environment, and they connect using RemoteApps. Users ofcourse do not have administrator rights.

I have tried printing from other applications when this issue is occurring. There are no issues in other applications.

Hi Adorobat,

Running as admin does not resolve the issue.

However, here's some added context I discovered:

The printers are pushed throug a GPO as shared printers on a printserver.

The printer that is pushed through GPO will not work. However, if I add the printer again as a user through Devices and Printers (so I'll have the same printer twice) the printer that I just added will work, even though it is the same printer.

Hi Adorobat,

Thanks for your response.

The server environment is Windows Server 2012 R2. Users log into the server using RemoteApps.

That should also answer your Operating System question.

Thanks again for the help.
