Pdf printing issue on Terminal Server

New Here ,
Feb 07, 2018 Feb 07, 2018

Dear

We have an issue with printing pdf's on our terminal server environment.

From time to time a user is not able to print any pdf's from acrobat reader. Doesn't matter which printer he uses.

Printing from other software like MS Office still works when the issue arises.

Environment:

Adobe Acrobat Reader DC - 17.012.20098

Windows Server 2012 R2 OS

Session printers

We have tried the "pdf troubleshoot printing issues" document on the adobe website, but nothing seems to help.

We have a small workaround:

Uninstalling the session printer, reinstalling the session printer, closing adobe reader and re-opening adobe reader.

After that we are able to print again.

Has anyone had a similar issue?

Hi Jamesb,

Sorry for the delay in response.

Could you let us know if there is any error message when user trying to print pdfs in Reader?

Try updating Reader to the latest patch and check if that helps. Launch Reader > click Help > Check for updates.

Also, try disabling protected mode by clicking Edit > Preferences > under Security (Enhanced ) > uncheck the box next to Enable protected mode at startup > click OK, relaunch Reader and check.

Please note: Disabling protected mode is for troubleshooting

Hi Shivam

We don't receive any error messages.

We'll try updating our adobe reader version, but we did that in the past and it did not seem to solve our case.

Also protected mode has already been turned of to test.

Have you ever had similar cases?

Hi Shivam,

We are having the same issue also on random RDSH servers and with random user sessions.

Environment:

Adobe Acrobat Reader DC - 17.008.30051

Windows Server 2012 R2 OS

Session printers

But won't disabling the Security at Preferences option cause trouble with the encryption of the PDF files even though it's for troubleshooting purposes.

Updating is definitely not solving this issue we already tried this.

Is there another solution for this problem?

KR,

Jimmy L.

Hi Shivam,

I have tested the suggested solution, I have also upgraded the Adobe 2017 MUI with the latest release AcroRdr2017Upd1701130105 and we are still having the issue on our RDS2012 environment.

Do you have a different solution for us?

Hope to hear from you as soon as possible.

KR,

Jimmy
