Initial Problem: Adobe Reader wouldn't print in color. The print preview screen shows color, but only black and white pages came out. Every other program prints color except Adobe Reader and the Chrome extension.
Tried the following:
Initial Solution: In the Adobe Reader print dialogue screen, click the Advanced button, and tick "Print as Image". This is the only workaround to get Adobe Reader to print in color.
New Problem: This setting will reset itself LITERALLY EVERY TIME YOU OPEN THE PROGRAM, so you have to do back into Advanced and re-tick "Print as Image" every time you print anything.
Please get your act together, Adobe, and stop wasting people's time.

I agree with opening poster. It has been two years now that people can't print Adobe documents in colour (despite colour showing in the print preview). Every other program prints in colour with no problem, including other PDF reader programs. Hard to complain when Acrobat Reader is a "free" program, but we still have to put up with its "nag-ware". I don't feel very incentivised to trust their paid service, given this problem.
