Question

PDFs are not opening in Edge

We have recently installed Adobe Reader DC (2024.004.20272) and the PDF files are not getting opened via Edge automatically instead Edge is prompting us 'What do you want to do the following file'.  Tried to turn on/off 'Ask me what to do with each download' & 'Always download PDF files' Edge toggles but no luck.

I do have a computer with an older version of Adobe Reader DC but I'm unable to find any difference in the settings (Preferences, PDF handlers etc). Are there any settings that need to be changed in Adobe Reader so Edge will display the content automatically?

Hi there

Hope you are doing well, and thank you for reaching out to us.

I understand that you’ve already tried toggling the “Ask me what to do with each download” option on and off without success. To further troubleshoot the issue, please try the following steps:

  1. Clear your web browser cache:

    • Go to your browser settings and clear browsing data, including cached files and cookies.
    • This can help resolve any temporary glitches or conflicts.
  2. Reset browser settings to default:

    • Navigate to your browser settings and reset it to the default configuration.
    • This ensures that no custom settings or extensions are interfering with the download behavior.
  3. Try a different web browser:

    • If the issue persists, please switch to a different browser (e.g., Chrome, Firefox, etc.) and see if the problem still occurs.

Please let us know if these steps resolve the issue or if further assistance is needed.

Hi Amal,

Thanks for responding to the post, I've done it before and just did it as well. But no luck.
