Question

PDFs Printing with Gray Background

I have a user who gets a grey background when printing in Adobe Reader.

It prints correctly when using different PDF viewing software including Chrome.

This only is occuring for this one user, they can print the exact same PDF correctly on another machine.

The version of Adobe is the latest one available and was re-installed on 1/13/2023

Troubleshooting steps taken:

Adobe Repair

Adobe Re-install

Printing to a different printer

Creating a copy using Save As

Printing as an image

Setting the page background to White

Checking Show Large Images

Unchecking Print in Greyscale

Steps laid out in this article: https://helpx.adobe.com/in/acrobat/kb/troubleshoot-pdf-printing-acrobat-reader.html

None of the above troubleshooting resolved the issue. Requesting assistance with a resolution.

Thank you

Hi @Christy28101928ypp6

Thanks for sharing the troubleshooting steps performed.

Looking at the description above, it seems that all of your print settings are as correct as they should be.

We'd like you to check the printer setting and see if that has been set up to print in Greyscale.

  1. At the Windows Manage your device screen, click Printer properties.
  2. Click Preferences.
  3. From the Color Mode dropdown, choose either Color or Black and White.
  4. Click OK to save.

Let us know if that helps.

Thanks,

Akanchha

Hello Akanchha,

Thank you for your suggestion. Changing the print settings as described did not resolve the issue. The PDFs still have the gray background when printing. This occurs regardless of if the PDF was a scanned document or otherwise.

Thank you.
