Preview Handler Error in Outlook 2013

Community Beginner ,
Nov 02, 2015 Nov 02, 2015

So I installed the new version and now the PDF preview handler only states there is an error and wont display a PDF attachment sent via n email.

Any suggestions as to how this may be fixed.

Looks like a system restart did it for me - thank you.

Hi nintheye

Please tell me what exact version of Reader you are using.

Also, share the screenshot of the exact error message that appears.

You might need to enable PDF Preview Handler option in your Outlook version by following these instructions:

  • Open Outlook 2013 and go to "File > Options > Trust Center"
  • Click on "Trust Center Settings..." button
  • Select "Attachment Handling" option from the menu on the left and click on "Attachment and Document Previewers..." button.
  • Locate and enable PDF Preview Handler option under 'File Previewing Options' dialog box.
  • Click OK to apply changes.

Let me know if that helps.

Regards,

Anubha

Thank you for your reply. The settings were already enabled and were indeed working just fine for over a year, prior to the update I did this morning.

The error message doesn't need to be a screenshot as that will not assist. It just says this...

*****************

This file cannot be previewed because of an error with the following previewer:

PDF Preview Handler

To open this file inits own program, double click it.

*****************

The version is Adobe Acrobat Reader DC. 2015 Release | Version 2015.009.20069

Updated this morning.

I am now, today, having the same issue.  Outlook 2013 and Acrobat DC.

In fact I was in the middle of opening and preview about fifty emails with PDF attachments when it just suddenly stopped working.

I think you will find that would be due to opening 50 emails at same time. Have you restarted your computer and tried again?

Hi NinthEye,

I'm sorry for the late response.

Could you please try repairing Outlook and see if that helps.
