Printing issue that arose with new Reader DC 19.008.20071

Within a few hours of yesterdays update, one of our users reported a printing issue from the new version (19.008.20071) of Adobe Reader DC. The issue relates to printing a full page image PDF. True text based PDF files, even with images scattered through the page, print without an issue.

The issue is that when trying to print in colour (tested on multiple printers in the office), a full page image PDF would skip every second line (i.e. print a strip of image, then leave a blank section) so the page looked like you were seeing it through a set of blinds. However if you printed the document in grayscale, the image would print correctly. I have photo's of what the print does, but the only example that I have has sensitive information on it.

The documents will also print fine in colour using other PDF applications such as Nitro, but my users prefer to use Acrobat Reader.

Could someone please get back to me with some sort of update to the issue.

We had the users compiling about this as well. This is why we uncheck the " install update automatically" options. However, for handful of users, this settings was not unchecked and they got upgraded to the latest ( broken) version and reporting seeing the sing in screen and then reported the issue of certain pdf printing blank.

What I noticed was that, the pdfs containing scanned images prints blank, "proper" pdf print as normal.

I tested this using the older version (18) and everything prints as normal.

Research suggested it could be that Adobe is not able to handle certain fonts or images in the pdf file.

Indeed printing as image helps as a workaround.

It was a big issues for us, as we have been rolling out new printers and some new features on the same day. Many users started blaming IT for deploying bad printers and features that broke things rather than fixing them. After grueling 2 hours of figuring out, I learned that Adobe was the one to blame.

ADOBE - fix this ASAP. Dont roll out things that are not ready to be deployed.

One of the user used the following method to solve the problem:

"Try Printing As Image. This seemed to help me when my pdfs were printing only partially. On the Print screen, click Advanced and tick the Print As Image checkbox."

This work around fixed our printing issue. Obviously a bug within the new update

Our company is experiencing the same problem but we've discovered a work around for now. Right click the PDF, open with Chrome (Haven't tested in Internet Explorer) and print through the browser.

    Hi

I tried with the files shared with me by kent75138966 but could not reproduce the issue. But with the screenshots shared by greg10290666, the issue seems like @Printing Problem with Latest Release (2019.008.20071)

If you can share some more sample files, that would help us confirm if that issue is same as the other one.

    Thanks
