Our organization enforces the Security (Enhanced) setting of Protected View: Files from potentially unsafe locations. So, PDF files downloaded from the internet open with an additioanl yellow bar to "Enable all features". From Trust Methods — Acrobat Application Security Guide setting a privileged location (for example, using the Add Host button to add a URL) will override the Protect View state and allow the file to open as a trusted file. It says: A sandbox for Acrobat is introduced called Protected View (PV). PV restrictions can be overridden via privileged locations." I assume this would mean the file would no longer open in protect mode and the enable all features button would no longer come up.
Anyway, it does not seem to work for me. I tried a number of sites, various formatting, secure and unsecure connections, on different machines and operating systems.
How is this supposed to work? If I am reading it incorrectly, could somebody point me to documentation stating why add hosts is not overriding PV?
Thanks,
Jeff
