Problem opening adobe documents scanned using EPSON printer

New Here ,
Dec 18, 2017 Dec 18, 2017

I have an EPSON workforce printer WF 4730. When I scan documents to my laptop as PDF, I am unable to open the documents.

I get an adobe reader pop-up window that says "a font package is required to correctly display this page. Click "OK" to direct your browser to download the add-on from adobe.com . After installation, you will need to close and re-open the document to correctly view contents dependent on these newly installed fonts"

I have checked this forum - there was a similar question posted in 2015-2016 about this but not yet resolved.

I have called EPSON to lodge a complaint BUT I am being told it is an adobe problem.

Which one is it? Can anyone help?

Very frustrated for now and will appreciate all help I can get - thanks all!

Hello bb16162748

Sorry for the delay in response to your query and apologize for the inconvenience caused. As per the description above, you are not able to open a PDF file with Adobe Reader scanned from an Epson printer, Is that correct?

Please check for any pending updates of Adobe Reader from Help>Check for updates. You may also repair the installation files of Adobe Reader from Help>Repair installation(only for Windows). Reboot the machine after the installation of updates and repair.

Make sure that the latest Scanner drivers are installed. You may also refer to following KB docs Can't open PDF

https://answers.acrobatusers.com/Can-t-open-a-scanned-document-q112878.aspx

I cannot open my scanned document

If the issue persists, please share the following details:

Let us know how it goes.

Regards,

Anand Sri.

I am having the same problem. I scan a document with my Epson scanner. I save it and send it to my admin. She can not open it. But, she can open Adobe(PDF)from other sources that I have sent her just not from my scanner.  There is only one person in my office that can open documents from my scanner.

I have updated my Adobe and still the same issues.

Hi Kimc,

Sorry for the delayed response and inconvenience caused. For testing purpose, please create a test user profile with full admin rights, and try.

Windows: Go to Control Panel>UserAccounts>Create a new user Profile.

Mac: Apple icon>System Preferences>Users and Groups>Create a new user profile. Or you can also enable the hidden root account: How to enable the root user on your Mac or change your root password - Apple Support

Let us know how it works in a test user profile.

Regards,

Anand Sri.

I have same problem. I have an epson v500 scanner and et2700 combined printer scan.
My computer can read the PDF but if I email, many recipients complain that they cannot open file.

is this an adobe or epson issue?

Just got our Epson WF 2860 had the same issue ...Solved at least for now

Instead of using the Epson Event Manager on Printer front panel to scan in your PDF documents

Use the Epson Scan2 software that is on your Computer under the Epson Tab in Windows I am not sure where it would be for a MAC...this created PDFs without needing the download.
