Problems with .JPG files attached to PDFs.

New Here ,
Mar 08, 2018 Mar 08, 2018

I recently converted some messages from a .MBOX file to PDF which have .JPP files attached. I can see the .JPG files attachments in the Adobe Reader by clicking the paperclip icon.

When I double click the .JPG file name, Adobe launches the native Windows10 photo viewer which gives me an error message ā€œWe can’t open this fileā€

I tried to save the attachment to my hard drive by right clicking on the filename and selecting ā€œsave attachmentā€. This does save the .JPG file to my hard drive and the Windows10 photo view still gives the error message ā€œWe can’t open this fileā€

Interestingly, the file created on my harddrive after saving the attachment from Adobe, is 1KB in size. In Adobe, in the attachments are (the paperclip icon), if I hover my mouse over the filename of the attachment, it says the attachment is 22kb in size.

It seems like the JPG data is there but there is some kind of problem getting it out.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks much for any suggestions anyone has.

Hi Markl,

Sorry for the delay in response.

As you have mentioned that you get an error when you try to open the JPG file attached to PDF.

This does not seem to be an Adobe issue.

Adobe Acrobat Reader DC is a free software. It does not create PDF.

It only helps you to view, print, sign and annotate PDFs.

As the PDF created by a third-party application, there is nothing much that can be done from our end.

Please check if the JPG file attached properly or not. it seems to be an issue with the attachment.

Let us know if you need any help.

Regards,

Meenakshi
