Question about openoffice convert to PDF

Hi,

I have a question about the converting between Open office writer and Adobe PDF reader.

Currently I have a document in Microsoft Word. The problem is that the table lines are really bad, after converting it to PDF.
The table are inconsistent, so that's a real big problem for me.

This is an example of what I mean. In Microsoft word it was all right, but in Adobe PDF reader the table lines are really weird and inconsistent. I tried a lot of things like change the marges, use other PDF programs and so on....

And this is just an example, in reality it's much, much, much, much worse...   So I'm curious if I this problem would still exist if I would use Open office instead of Microsoft Word?

Hi Mikk,

As you are converting Word file to PDF, could you please share the exact steps you do to convert it to PDF.

Please let us know the Adobe application you are using to create PDF from the word file.

Is it an issue only with this file? Did you try to convert any other file to check?

If not, please try to check and let us know.

If possible can you share the file with us, so we can check the same on our end?

You may refer the steps provided here How to share a document to share the file.

Let us know if you have any questions.

Regards,

Meenakshi

Hi Meenakshi,

Thanks for your response. Unfortunately I can't upload the whole document, because I made

it for a company, so I don't think they would be happy if I share it

I made an example of a document in MS Word and I converted it to PDF (see the link below), and this document has exactly the same problem as all of my other documents. I convert a Microsoft Word document to PDF, by clicking on: File > Save as > PDF.

Also, I tried to Export it as a PDF document, but it gave exactly the same problem.  I converted the document with three different laptops, but it didn't help at all.  I also converted other documents, but again, it's the same problem over and over again.

The strange part is: if I make the table lines black, it all goes well. But when I change the color of the table lines it all goes wrong.

I asked this question in many forums, and a lot of people has exactly the same problem. I think that there is not really a solution.....

But I hope you can help me out

As you have mentioned above that you are using the File > Save as >PDF, you are not using the Adobe PDF printer.

It is the application's own PDF printer. We may not be able to help you with that.

However, you can try to create PDF using Adobe Acrobat DC.

To check if it works as you require, you may try the trial version here Download Adobe Acrobat free trial | Acrobat Pro DC

Let us know if you have any questions or need any help.

We will be happy to help you.

Hi Meenakshi,

After your reaction I installed the trial version of Adobe Acrobat Pro. Unfortunately the problem still exist.

I tried two seperate things:

1. File > Save as Adobe PDF

2. Print > and then select Adobe PDF as the printer.

The documents in MS Word and Adobe PDF: Gedeelde bestanden - Acrobat.com

In both situations the problem still exist, here is a picture of what I see:

In the preferences of Acrobat Reader disable the entry "Enhance thin lines".

It's easy to show there is NOTHING WRONG with your PDF. Try at different zoom levels. Different lines are thicker. So clearly the problem is in how the PDF file is viewed, NOT how it is made.

My advice is to ignore it. People who view PDF files see (or rather don't see) this all the time. You see it, because as the creator you are closely focussed. You can change your display settings, software or whatever, but you cannot control what software and settings other people will use.

Thanks for your response. Indeed, if I zoom in the lines are equal. But nobody is going to read this document at 200%

And honestly I can't ignore it, because it's really irritating me. So I would not convert it to PDF or I would make the border lines black.

I am wondering how it's possible that so many people have the same problem and there's still not a "real" solution for it.

But I want to thank everyone who helped to solve this problem.

When I zoom in on your file the problem remains BUT it is different lines, clearly showing it isn't the PDF itself.

Yes, but there is no solution for it. It all needs to be good when someone read this document at 100%. Unfortunately that's not the case. Well it is what it is..

Perhaps it's not a problem to them. Or perhaps fixing it makes something else worse (like looking at engineering drawings).

But how can it not be a problem to them, if it's a problem for us. I mean we are there customers. I don't say that they need to do exactly what we want, but this is such a big problem (on the internet you can find a lot of people who experience exactly the same problem.
