I am having an issue quick printing .pdf documents in Outlook 2010 using the right-click - quick print option. The computer has both Adobe Reader 11.xx and Adobe Acrobat DC installed.
I resolved the issue where originally the quick print option wouldn't print at all by selecting Adobe Reader as my default .pdf reader and setting Windows 7 to use Adobe Reader as the default .pdf handler. Now I can print by right-clicking and selecting quick print on the .pdf attachment in Outlook without having to actually open the file first.
The issue is - after quick printing is selected the Adobe Acrobat DC application automatically opens to the task bar and has to be manually closed after the printing is finished. This is not an issue with other computers doing the same task that only have Adobe Reader installed. There the .pdf prints and there is a quick flash on the screen, which I believe is Reader opening and closing, but Reader doesn't stay open in the task bar like Acrobat does.
To open .pdf's without using the internet browser the Adobe Reader application is disabled in I.E. and the display in read mode option is unchecked. I have tried a couple of combinations of various settings without success.
Anyone else had this issue and what did you do to resolve this?
Thank you

We are experiencing the same issue, the previous version of Adobe Reader would close automatically after a Quick Print but DC will stay open and we have to manually close it out. We have a program that auto-prints reports and it generates quite a bit and we have to manually close each tab within Acrobat Reader DC. Please let me know if you find a solution and I will do the same. Thank you,

I have the same issue with Acrobat DC, Outlook 2016 (Office 365) and Windows 10 with all updates. Started a couple weeks ago. I have tried "repair installation" twice and did not help. I have heard of others who uninstalled and reinstalled and did not work.
Acrobat PDFmaker Office Com addin is active
Adobe Send and Track for Microsoft Outlook - Acrobat was active, but disabled itself after outlook had an error. But when activated (box hecked) - still have the quick print problem with acrobat staying open

I've find a solution that worked for me in a very old post from the Microsoft website.
It must Some adaptations ( if your release of Office is different ) but I follow it , I create registry keys and Normally it working now .
I don't understand why Microsoft do not apply it for new release of Office.
You can find more info here : https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2316520
To sum up in my case, it just consist to create this key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Outlook\Options\Attachments\
And FileTrackIdle as DWORD(32-bit) Value and in the Value Box I put 15 000 😛
Enjoy 🙂

Little mistake : HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Outlook\Options\Attachments\
=> HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0 For Office 2016

This registry edit worked on my Windows 10 machine with Office 2016. No luck with the Windows 7 ones for some reason.
Microsoft\Office\16.0 that is.

Is there a solution to this problem that doesn't involve a registry hack?

From microsoft support:
* When changing the registry key you will have to change the 12.0 to your version of outlook,
You can find this by going to file->help->version. (in the example below i would put 14.0 instead of 12.0)
** Through testing on my server i have found a value of 15000 works best for any more than 10 emails.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Outlook\Options\Attachments\
FileTrackIdle = DWORD:5000
ps: if you want to print multiple emails with attachments but not the actual email just change the "Page range" to Pages:0
