Hello,

Two weeks ago I downloaded Adobe Acrobat Reader DC to a MacBook Pro in hopes of being able to edit my pdfs in an easier way then through preview. For the past few days the system has been freezing as I have been editing and today when attempting to open through preview automatically not responding. I have been dealing with this since last night and it is ridiculous that now I have to rewrite weeks of information into a new pdf. I was thinking of updating and paying for the service, so I can export it but, there is no point of paying money if the file is corrupt and will not export. How do I fix this issue? I tried calling but, of course since it is a free service the only technical support is via this forum. Please help me fix this issue, as it is ridiculous that your company has put me into this predicament in the first place. I'm a med school student and should not be allotting my time to write this post.

Thank you,

Samantha

Use your backup to get them back.

I actually have the same problem today. I edited my file using adobe DC and then the file was corructed. I couldn't access the notes I made in the file and had a deadline to meet so this is terrible

It might be a disk fault, which would be serious. Are you able to copy the PDF files to your desktop?

If you manage to open the file immediately do a Save As to a new name. Repeatedly using Save alone can lead to an unstable file, as well as leaving you dangerously exposed with no backup. As you've found.

These pdfs were originally on my desktop so once I save it on the Adobe Acrobat Reader the edited text appears in the preview as well. But now, it is at the point where as soon as I open the pdf via preview the rainbow colored cursor comes on and I have to force quit the preview application. In adobe, it becomes super slow only when I press the comment box, thus taking forever to scroll down or when attempting to type into the file. I tried converting the file to word but that doesn't open either saying the file is corrupted or missing parts, etc. When opening other textbook pdfs that I have not edited through Acrobat Reader the Preview application works fine and does not freeze. I just do not want to lose all that material or have to waste an enormous amount of time rewriting into yet another pdf.

Very stressful situation, but thank you so much for your prompt response!
