Re: Adobe Reader on Windows does not remember last view settings for some PDFs

Hello, I tried modifying the PDF file, saving it, but to no avail. Adobe Reader doesn't remember the last viewed page. Here's the attached PDF file that causes problem. I'm using Adobe Reader v.2025.001.20756 64bit on Windows 11 (latest version applied). The setting under Acrobat>Edit>Preferences>Documents> Remember last view settings when reopening the file is properly checked. Any idea?

@calande that 'Remember last view settings when reopening the file is properly checked' setting should have worked. And I noticed on mine, it still does read with the last PDF. The only thing I can think of is if the the creator of the PDF set a document property called "Initial View" to force the file to open on a specific page, regardless of the user's preferences.

Check the "Open to page" field. If it is set to 1, this is likely the cause.
Although, Adobe Reader (the free version) cannot change this setting, only view it.

Hello, when I go to the properties, be it inside Adobe Reader or in Windows Explorer, I don't have any document property called "Initial View", and the properties window is different.

    Hi calande ,

    Thank you for the information.

We have checked the file, and there are a few settings added under the initial view under the document properties that are causing this behaviour. Please check the screenshot attached.

I hope this information helps you.

    Thanks,
