I, too, am receiving the error...
Windows - Application Error
The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000022).
Click OK to close the application.
I click OK but the error message continues to stay on screen...
I am using ACROBAT READER DC
Installed: Adobe Acrobat Reader DC (18.011.20038)
Also, I checked for updates... "no updates available"
I am also using Windows 10
I am not tech savvy, so simplistic, easy to understand step-by-step instructions to fix this problem would be greatly appreciated.

It works you need to make sure that the program start up has a administrator

Hi PeggyLea,
As you get the Windows application error, did you try all the troubleshooting steps mentioned here Application unable to Start correctly 0xc0000022 || 0x00000022
If that does not help, try to run the cleaner tool Download Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool - Adobe Labs on the machine.
Reboot the machine and re-install the application from here Adobe - Adobe Acrobat Reader DC Distribution
Check if that helps.
Let us know how it goes.

Meenakshi
