Question

Read out loud function not working in Reader XI or DC

Hi,

I know there have been other questions raising this issue, but is there a fix? ie - without disabling protection at startup.

It is very important that our audience (who may have an impairment) can use Reader's accessibility options.

Thank you

Paula

    Hi Paulad93763527,

For this functionality to work, Adobe Reader must have a voice selected that you have installed in your system.

For the same, please try the steps below:

    • Open Adobe Reader application
    • Go to Edit>Preferences>Reading(on the left side options)
    • Under the "Read Out Loud Options", un check (use default voice)
    • Choose a voice from the drop down menu and click Ok
    • Then try the same on clicking any part of the file that you wish to be read out loud.

Let me know how it goes.

    Thanks,

    Supriya

    Hi Supriya,

I have been using this function for years, this is the first time I have had a problem.  It works absolutely fine with Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro, so the voices must be installed on my system.  it worked once this morning with Zira, but then stopped with any of the 3 voices.

    Kind regards

    Paula

    Paulad93763527,

Please confirm if you checked it with other files too, or is it not working with a particular file.

Also, for testing purpose only, please check if it works fine after disabling the Protected mode and then you can enable it.

    Thanks,

    Supriya
